Welcome to

our Parish

We, the people of God at St. Patrick Catholic Church are a welcoming, Christ-centered community committed to keeping alive the vision and hope of Vatican II. Our Sunday liturgy, enhanced by the creative arts, strengthens us for the work of peace and justice in the world and challenges us to live in communion with one another and all of creation.

St Pat’s is a welcoming and affirming community, honoring the gifts of the laity, pursuing the gospel values of justice and peace, and celebrating the diversity of the human family. Our members come from a wide geographical area. The Church and social hall are handicap accessible and we have assisted hearing devices available for our liturgies. The 10 a.m. Sunday mass is sign language interpreted for both deaf and deaf-blind parishioners. The Hospitality Ministry provides leadership in support of our parish goal: That everyone who comes to St. Pat’s will feel welcome.

Christ-Centered

We take seriously our baptism promise to live as disciples of Christ and we incorporate that belief into all our ministries and programs. Some of the opportunities we provide for spiritual development and growth in faith include: yearly retreats, a weekly centering prayer group on Sunday at 9:15 a.m., presentations on prayer, scripture or other topics of faith, women’s spirituality groups, a bible-study group and a children’s faith formation program.

Vatican II

As a faith community, we are fully committed to the teachings of Vatican II, the revolutionary ecumenical council called by Pope John XXIII in 1961. Thus, we place great value on the active involvement of the laity in ministerial and leadership roles. In addition, we place a strong emphasis on social justice, working towards bringing about a just social order in the world. Another aspect of our Vatican II vision is to be accepting of other faith traditions, engaging in dialogue and common activities.

Creative Arts

Our liturgies are enriched and enhanced by a variety of styles of music, liturgical dance, and other forms of performing arts, and are designed to lead the assembly into full, conscious and active participation

Peace and Justice

The work of peace and justice in the world requires that we walk with two feet: direct service and social change. Our active Social Justice Committee provides opportunities for advocacy and political action. Our yearly parish tithe provides financial support for a sister parish in El Salvador, Noel House, a homeless shelter for women and Broadway House, a permanent home for formerly homeless women located in our neighborhood. In addition, we provide a monthly dinner for Noel House and have an active St. Vincent De Paul Society.

All of Creation

While the beauty of Earth fills us with gratitude, awe and wonder, Pope John Paul II reminded us that we are called to respond to a planet in peril. At St. Pat’s, we promote an attitude of concern for the environment through our day-to-day choices and activities. We use fair trade coffee and tea for our coffee hour and have it available for purchase once a month.
