| Faith Challenge
Lent begins this week, and as the flyer in the bulletin announces, “Let this be the time”! This theme comes from the title of the song by Lori True that Laura has chosen to sing throughout Lent. Your challenge for this week is to decide what will you let this Lent be the time to do, to be, to start. Isn’t that what we do every Ash Wednesday? But for some of us, our good intentions drop by the wayside as the days go on—and suddenly it’s Holy Week! Maybe this Lent will be different. Maybe this Lent we will be inspired by the song to truly “let this be the time”—the time to open our hearts to those who are suffering, or to make a commitment to honor creation, or to make space for silence in the busy chatter of our days, or………….(you fill in the blank.) |
Black and Indian Mission Collection
Next Sunday we will take up the annual Collection for Black and Indian Missions. Our financial contributions help to support Catholic American Indian communities on reservations in rural areas and inner cities. The collection also supports African American evangelization programs particularly in the south. Donations envelopes are available in the vestibule.
First Reconciliation Preparation
A meeting for parents of those children preparing for First reconciliation will be held next Sunday, February 26 at 9:15 in the Social Hall meeting room.
Book Discussion for Lent The Adult Faith Development Committee has chosen a book for us to read during Lent: Spiritual Quest: A Guide to the Changing Landscape by Tom Hart. The following is a review of the book: “What is holy and what is harmful? How can I judge what is authentic spirituality and what is not? What do I really believe? Many Christians are struggling to find meaning on their own outside the Church, yet find themselves in a world that changes daily. Thomas Hart offers a pilgrim’s guide to charting a solid path through today’s evolving landscape. Hart revitalizes the best of Christian tradition then presents new ways of thinking about God, Jesus, the role of sexuality in spirituality, and how science affects our understanding of God.”
Two opportunities to discuss the book will be offered: March 4: Chapters 1-5; March 25: Chapters 6-9; after both masses.
